Design made in Hamburg

Book cover illustration

For the first Hamburg design yearbook "Design made in Hamburg", published by hamburgunddesign in cooperation with the publishing house RedBox, a design competition for the book cover was issued.

The contribution of kilde shows an outline of the town map with both arms of river Elbe, colourful paper-boats afloat. The river channels with the island in the middle stand for exchange and build a small letter "d". The boats symbolize agencies and designers.

Scene made from cardboard, aluminum foil and coloured folding paper, illuminated with natural daylight and photographed. The illustration for the back cover shot with little depth of field. The headline was calligraphed with a bold pencil, scanned in high resolution and reversed in negative.
